About me.

This picture of me was taken right after I cut off my waist length hair and was literally stunned by what I had done.   I was rather shocked and somewhat heartbroken.  My hair is longer now, but not by much, because after a life time of long hair, I am enjoying it short.

I am married in case you are wondering, to a wonderful man. I grew up in Brooklyn and now live in the New York Metropolitan exurbs. I came here after 9/11 which killed some  friends and a lot of family (chiefly NYFD, God Bless their souls) as  I found the city too difficult to live in from the air pollution brought upon by the destruction of those lovely Towers and the constant reminders of what and who we had lost. But we did get some wonderful sunsets…still.

I like it here in exurbia, though I do miss the hustle and bustle of the city. The library here is nice but definitely not on par with the wonders of the New York Public Library, where I could get anything; shopping is ok but of course doesn’t equal 57th Street and their Christmas windows do not equal those along Fifth Avenue, (though admittedly, last time I went to see them they were very secularized) . And now that is it Thanksgiving, I miss the winter beauty of Rockefeller Plaza , the lovely ice skaters and that frigid lighting of the colossal and magnificent  Christmas tree.

OTOH though I finally got my beehives, I have two,  met other beekeepers in the local club, and have a large garden with pear, apple and cherry trees, just like I had in New York City (some things just change location).  Best of all, my health is back to where it was pre-9/11 so I think that this trade-off really worked; but I do get homesick nonetheless.

Thanks for dropping in.
